Electrical System Design
Upon the successful completion of this course, each participant will be able to:
- Gain in-depth knowledge in Electrical Systems Design
- Discuss automotive electrical principles
- Understand the role of the electrical design team in an engineering and construction project
- Recognize considerations for effective electrical design
- Prepare the electrical load list and discuss transformer sizing
- Study switchboard sizing and power & distribution transformer
- Develop key single line diagram and single line diagram for LV & MV switchboard
- LV switchgear and protection and metering diagram
- Study the air insulated switchgear, power system and gas insulated switchgear (GIS)
- Illustrate UPS single line diagram and DC UPS
- Carryout DC & AC UPS sizing calculation, cable sizing calculation and the edge sizing calculation
- Understand AC UPS & earthing, emergency diesel generator, lighting calculation and hazardous area classification
- Study the variable speed drive, cable schedule, drum schedule and capacitor bank & harmonic filter
- Describe the substation design, neutral earthing resister and the LV & MV motors
- Discuss electrical safety
This course is suitable for Electrical & Electronics Engineers, Electrical Technicians or equivalent, or experienced Diploma Engineers of a satisfactory standard and deemed suitable preparation for a great career path.
