Course Description

Electrical drawings are a formal and precise way of communicating information about the layout, the dimensions, features and precision of Electrical installations. Drawing is the universal language of engineering. To understand how to “read and interpret” a drawing it is necessary to be familiar with the standard conventions, rules, and symbols used on the various types of electrical drawings.​

The purpose of this advanced course is to prepare electrical personnel with the ability to read and understand the electrical diagrams, various standards and practices used for reading and Interpreting electrical drawings and schematics. Participants will be introduced to electrical symbols, one-line and three-line electrical schematics and their content, including basic layout and legends. The course will help the attendees to understand the symbols and the language used in electrical drawings in line with the international standards and practices, giving a detailed insight into the various types of electrical drawings used in the industry, their purpose and applications.

Course Objectives

Upon the successful completion of this course, each participant will be able to:-

  • Describe the various terms associated with electrical drawings
  • Identify the plans, terminology and drawings that are included in electrical drawings
  • Discuss the uses of electrical test equipment such as grip-on ammeter, megger, multi-meter
  • Identify Different Types of Electrical Drawings
  • Interpret electrical, earthling and cabling layouts
  • Create a block map of the installed equipment
  • Transfer the information to the one-line diagram
  • Understand to ladder diagrams, Logic symbols, their Interpretation and use
  • Verify electrical prints and maintain regulatory compliant electrical diagrams
  • Revising and Updating the drawings

This course is designed for anyone responsible for the safe installation, maintenance, repair or inspection of electrical equipment, building electrical systems and general electrical wiring. This includes All Maintenance Personnel, Electricians, Electronic & Instrumentation Technicians and any person needing a basic course in Electrical Troubleshooting & Preventive Maintenance.

Assessment Methodology
