This intensive five-day program is meticulously designed to prepare participants for the Project Management Institute Agile Certified Professional (PMI-ACP)® certification exam. The course provides a comprehensive deep dive into Agile principles, values, practices, tools, and techniques across various Agile methodologies, including Scrum, Kanban, Lean, XP, and more. Participants will gain a thorough understanding of the seven domains covered in the PMI-ACP exam content outline, focusing on practical application, situational understanding, and critical thinking required to pass the certification. The program includes interactive sessions, practice questions, and exam-taking strategies to maximize success.

Course Objectives

  • Understand and articulate the Agile Manifesto, its principles, and core Agile values.
  • Differentiate and apply various Agile methodologies such as Scrum, Kanban, Lean, and XP.
  • Master the seven domains of the PMI-ACP exam content outline: Agile Principles and Mindset, Value-driven Delivery, Stakeholder Engagement, Team Performance, Adaptive Planning, Problem Detection and Resolution, and Continuous Improvement.

Day 1: Agile Principles, Mindset, and Value-Driven Delivery

  • Introduction to PMI-ACP® and the certification process.
  • The Agile Manifesto and its 12 Principles.
  • Understanding the Agile Mindset and its importance.
  • Key Agile concepts: iterative development, incremental delivery, adaptation.
  • Domain I: Agile Principles and Mindset - Exploring the tasks and enablers related to fostering an Agile mindset, Experimentation, embracing change, psychological safety.
  • Domain II: Value-driven Delivery - Defining value in Agile projects, Value-based prioritization techniques (e.g., MoSCoW, Kano Model, Weighted Shortest Job First), Minimal Viable Product (MVP) and Minimal Marketable Feature (MMF).
  • Workshop: Prioritizing a backlog using Agile techniques.

Day 2: Stakeholder Engagement and Team Performance

  • Domain III: Stakeholder Engagement (17% of exam)
  • Identifying and analyzing stakeholders in Agile contexts.
  • Agile communication strategies: information radiators, active listening, feedback loops.
  • Collaborative decision-making models.
  • Managing stakeholder expectations and conflict resolution
  • Domain IV: Team Performance 
  • Characteristics of high-performing Agile teams.
  • Self-organizing and cross-functional teams.
  • Coaching, mentoring, and facilitating team dynamics.
  • Conflict management within Agile teams.
  • Understanding different Agile roles (e.g., Scrum Master, Product Owner, Development Team).
  • Practical Exercise: Facilitating an Agile team discussion and conflict resolution scenario.

Day 3: Adaptive Planning and Agile Methodologies Deep Dive

  • Domain V: Adaptive Planning (12% of exam)
  • Levels of Agile planning: Release, Iteration, Daily.
  • Agile estimation techniques (e.g., Story Points, Planning Poker, Ideal Days).
  • User Stories and their decomposition (Epics, Features, Stories).
  • Release and iteration planning.
  • Deep dive into specific Agile frameworks:
  • Scrum: Roles, Events (Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Sprint Review, Sprint Retrospective), Artifacts (Product Backlog, Sprint Backlog, Increment).
  • Kanban: Principles, practices (visualize workflow, limit WIP, manage flow), Kanban boards, Cumulative Flow Diagrams.
  • Laboratory Session: Developing a Sprint Plan and practicing Agile estimation.

Day 4: Problem Detection, Resolution, and Agile Metrics

  • Domain VI: Problem Detection and Resolution (10% of exam)
  • Identifying and addressing risks in Agile projects.
  • Root Cause Analysis (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagrams).
  • Problem-solving techniques and continuous improvement.
  • Impediment resolution.
  • Agile Metrics and Reporting:
  • Burn-down and Burn-up Charts.
  • Velocity.
  • Cycle Time and Lead Time.
  • Earned Value Management (EVM) in Agile contexts.
  • Agile Tools and Techniques Review:
  • Agile Analysis and Design.
  • Product Quality (e.g., Test-Driven Development, Acceptance Test-Driven Development).

  • Hands-on Practice: Analyzing project data using Agile metrics and identifying solutions for common problems.

Day 5: Continuous Improvement, Exam Strategies, and Review

  • Domain VII: Continuous Improvement (Product, Process, People) (9% of exam)
  • The importance of retrospectives and continuous learning.
  • Inspect and Adapt cycles.
  • Value Stream Mapping.
  • Coaching and mentoring for continuous improvement.
  • PMI-ACP® Exam Application Process and Eligibility Review.
  • Exam content outline deep dive and weighting analysis.
  • Effective exam-taking strategies: time management, question analysis, eliminating distractors.
  • Review of key Agile concepts, terms, and processes.
  • Comprehensive Mock Exam and Review Session.

Assessment Methodology

All courses conducted by EdTech are begun with a written Pre-evaluation and end with a Post-evaluation. The instructor will evaluate the knowledge and skills of the participants according to the feedback given by participants.
