Course Description

This highly interactive Electrical Isolation Certification (LV Isolation Authorization) course places maximum emphasis on safety when working on or near energized electrical equipment.

The training will provide an understanding of industrial low voltage power systems, including statutory regulations, safe operation, and protection of power installations. Also to enable participants to perform LV switching operations on LV networks up to and including 10kV, and to prepare them for authorization in accordance with their companies’ safety rules/regulations.

Course Objectives

Upon the successful completion of this course, each participant will be able to:

  • Understand electricity at work regulations, electrical hazards and precautions
  • Discuss outline of the design, construction, installation and maintenance of low voltage equipment
  • Describe appreciation of earthing systems, power equipment and safety earths
  • Study outline of LV installations, electrical isolation and safety procedures
  • Discuss safety documentation (switching programme – Lockout/Tagout)
  • Understand procedures for electrical permit to work procedures and lv isolation authorization
  • Learn safe testing of low voltage electrical equipment and installations
  • Discuss risk assessment and application of low voltage protection

Who Should Attend?

This course is designed for personnel with electrical, instrument or mechanical background within industry who are involved in the operation, installation and testing of LV equipment and safe working practices.
