Course Objectives

Upon the successful completion of this course, each participant will be able to:
  • Identify a variety of biological, chemical and physical hazards and recommend prevention and control measures, including confined space entry.
  • Identify applications of environmental health and safety protocols and procedures.
  • Develop emergency response plans for accidental occurrences, such as chemical spills.
  • Conduct routine safety audits and prepare associated documentation.
  • Utilize current legislation and regulations including the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS), Environmental Protection Act and Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act.
  • Utilize and maintain environmental monitoring devices and protective equipment to acceptable standards.
  • Identify and explain issues pertaining to ergonomic design and assist in the prevention and monitoring of workplace hazards.
