Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) is a powerful technique used to study the behavior of electrochemical systems. It involves applying a small amplitude sinusoidal voltage or current to the system and measuring the resulting current or voltage response over a wide range of frequencies. The impedance of the system, which is a complex number representing the resistance and capacitance of the system, is then calculated. This information can be used to gain insights into the kinetics of electrochemical reactions, the properties of the electrode-electrolyte interface, and the diffusion of species in the system. EIS is a non-destructive technique that can be used to study a wide range of electrochemical systems, including batteries, fuel cells, corrosion systems, and biosensors.
