Course Description

This IOSH Managing Safely and Working Safely training course offer a comprehensive approach to workplace safety, benefiting both employers and employees. The Managing Safely program equips managers and supervisors with the expertise to go beyond simply reacting to accidents. They learn to proactively identify hazards, assess risks, and implement effective safety protocols to prevent incidents from happening in the first place. Meanwhile, Working Safely empowers employees with the knowledge to recognize and avoid hazards themselves. Course Agenda

Day 1

Registration, Welcome & Introduction

Pre-Test

Introduction to Workplace Safety

  • Understand the importance of health and safety in the workplace
  • Recognize the legal framework for workplace safety (relevant to your region)
  • Identify the roles and responsibilities of different stakeholders in safety management
  • Explain the concept of risk and its role in safety management

Day 2

Identifying and Assessing Workplace Hazards

  • Apply different hazard identification techniques (e.g., inspections, risk assessments)
  • Recognize common workplace hazards (physical, chemical, biological, psychosocial)
  • Evaluate the severity and likelihood of potential harm from identified hazards
  • Explain the hierarchy of risk controls

Day 3

Risk Control Strategies

  • Identify and implement appropriate risk control measures based on the hierarchy of controls
  • Develop and implement safe work procedures for high-risk activities
  • Explain the importance of personal protective equipment (PPE) and its proper use
  • Describe effective methods for monitoring and reviewing the effectiveness of controls

Day 4

Building a Positive Safety Culture

  • Define a positive safety culture and its key characteristics
  • Recognize the factors that contribute to a positive safety culture
  • Apply strategies for promoting safe working practices within a team/department
  • Explain the role of effective communication in safety management
  • Describe methods for encouraging employee participation in safety initiatives

Day 5

Legislation & IOSH Assessment Preparation

  • Review relevant health and safety legislation and regulations
  • Understand IOSH assessment procedures and criteria
  • Develop effective strategies for preparing for the IOSH Managing Safely assessment

Post-Test

End of the Course

Assessment Methodology

All courses conducted by EdTech will begin with a Pre-evaluation and end with a Post-evaluation. The instructor will evaluate the knowledge and skills of the participants according to the feedback given by participants. This will help to recognize the benefits and the level of knowledge gained by participants through the course.
