Course Description

This 5-day advanced course is designed for professionals involved in the identification, analysis, mitigation, and management of risks associated with complex process industries such as oil and gas, chemicals, power, and manufacturing. Building on foundational risk principles, this training delves into advanced tools and methodologies such as Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA), Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA), Safety Integrity Level (SIL) determination, and human factors engineering. Participants will learn how to apply risk-based decision-making throughout the process lifecycle—from design to operation and maintenance.

Course Objectives

Upon the successful completion of this course, each participant will be able to:

  • Apply advanced risk identification and evaluation techniques in process environments
  • Conduct detailed Hazard and Operability Studies (HAZOP) and integrate with LOPA and SIL assessments
  • Perform Quantitative Risk Assessments (QRA) to evaluate likelihood and consequence of major incidents
  • Design and evaluate safety instrumented systems (SIS) based on IEC 61511 standards
  • Incorporate human factors and organizational culture into risk control strategies
  • Enhance operational risk management practices and align with international safety regulations

Who Should Attend?

This course is designed for Process Safety Engineers and Managers, Operational Risk Managers, HSE Professionals and Safety Officers, Plant/Facility Managers and Supervisors, Process and Control System Engineers, Design Engineers involved in hazard studies & Auditors and Compliance Officers in high-risk industries.
