Course Description

This intensive 5-day training program is designed to equip electrical engineers, technicians, and maintenance personnel with a comprehensive understanding of the principles, operation, design, inspection, testing, and troubleshooting of circuit breakers and switchgear systems. It covers both low and medium-voltage systems, focusing on safety, standards, maintenance procedures, diagnostic testing, and failure analysis. Participants will gain hands-on knowledge for effective maintenance, repair, and lifecycle management of these critical components in power systems.

By the end of the course, attendees will be able to ensure reliability, safety, and optimal performance of switchgear and breaker installations in utility, industrial, and commercial settings.

Course Objectives

Upon the successful completion of this course, each participant will be able to:

  • Understand the operating principles, types, and configurations of circuit breakers and switchgears
  • Apply standards and safety protocols during inspection, maintenance, and testing
  • Perform condition-based maintenance and diagnostic testing on electrical equipment
  • Identify and troubleshoot common faults and failures in breakers and switchgear assemblies
  • Develop preventive maintenance plans and repair strategies to improve equipment reliability
  • Interpret technical documentation, including single-line diagrams and protection schemes
  • Support design and selection of appropriate switchgear and breaker types for specific applications

Who Should Attend?

This course is designed for Electrical Engineers and Technicians, Maintenance Engineers and Supervisors, Plant and Facility Electricians, Electrical Inspectors and Safety Officers, Utility and Industrial Power System Operators & Professionals involved in electrical systems design and asset management.
