Course Description

This 5-day introductory course on Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) equips maintenance and reliability professionals with a foundational understanding of RCM principles and how they are applied to develop cost-effective, risk-based maintenance strategies. The training covers the logic behind RCM, its role in asset management, and how to identify and mitigate equipment failure risks while aligning maintenance tasks with organizational goals.

Participants will learn the step-by-step RCM process, including system selection, functional failure analysis, failure mode effects analysis (FMEA), and maintenance strategy development. Emphasis is placed on decision-making based on criticality, safety, environmental impact, and operational performance.

Course Objectives

Upon the successful completion of this course, each participant will be able to:

  • Understand the core principles and benefits of Reliability Centered Maintenance
  • Define key RCM terms: functions, functional failures, failure modes, and effects
  • Perform system selection and functional decomposition
  • Apply FMEA to identify critical failure modes and consequences
  • Develop appropriate, risk-based maintenance strategies
  • Integrate RCM with existing maintenance practices (PM, PdM, CBM)
  • Promote a culture of reliability in operations and maintenance teams

Who Should Attend?

This course is designed for Maintenance Engineers and Supervisors, Reliability and Asset Management Professionals, Plant and Operations Managers, Maintenance Planners and Schedulers, Engineering and Technical Managers, Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Personnel, Anyone involved in equipment reliability or maintenance strategy development.
