Course Description

This 5-day course introduces the essential concepts of metallurgy in a clear, accessible manner for professionals without specialized training in the field. The program focuses on the properties, classification, processing, and behavior of metals in industrial applications. Participants will learn how metals respond to mechanical and thermal treatment, how to interpret material specifications and standards, and how to evaluate metals for durability, corrosion resistance, and performance. Designed to bridge the knowledge gap, this course supports better decision-making in engineering, procurement, operations, and quality roles.

Course Objectives

Upon the successful completion of this course, each participant will be able to:

  • Understand the fundamental principles of metallurgy and material science
  • Recognize different categories of metals and their industrial applications
  • Interpret mechanical, thermal, and chemical properties of metals
  • Describe common processes such as heat treatment, alloying, and forming
  • Identify causes of metal degradation such as corrosion and fatigue
  • Understand metal specifications, codes, and selection criteria
  • Support engineering, quality, or procurement decisions with metallurgical insight

Who Should Attend?

This course is designed for Mechanical, Civil, and Electrical Engineers, Project and Design Engineers, Maintenance and Operations Personnel, Procurement and Supply Chain Professionals, Quality Assurance/Quality Control Staff, Health Safety & Environmental (HSE) Officers.
