Course Description

This 5-day accelerated program equips participants with in-depth knowledge and hands-on skills in ArcFM for Electric and Water networks. The course focuses on GIS-based utility network management, design, editing, and analysis, emphasizing practical workflows to improve operational efficiency, asset management, and decision-making. Participants will learn to leverage ArcFM’s tools for network modeling, tracing, and reporting, tailored to Electric and Water utility operations.

Day 1 – Introduction & ArcFM Basics

  • Hands-on exercise: Exploring an existing ArcFM network

Day 2 – Data Editing & Feature Creation

  • Creating and editing Electric and Water network features
  • Attribute management and data validation
  • Workflow templates and default values
  • Hands-on exercises: Adding new network features and updating attributes

Day 3 – Connectivity & Network Tracing

  • Understanding network connectivity rules
  • Performing connectivity validation
  • Network tracing: upstream, downstream, and isolation traces
  • Hands-on exercises: Conducting tracing scenarios for Electric and Water networks

Day 4 – Analysis, Mapping & Visualization

  • Using ArcFM tools for spatial and network analysis
  • Generating thematic maps, reports, and layouts
  • Visualizing network status, asset conditions, and connectivity
  • Hands-on exercises: Creating analysis reports and maps for operational decisions

Day 5 – Workflow Automation, Reporting & Best Practices

  • Automating repetitive tasks and ArcFM workflows
  • Best practices for data management and network maintenance
  • QA/QC processes and standard operating procedures
  • Q&A, wrap-up, and action planning for participants’ own networks

Assessment Methodology
