Day 2: Strategy Mapping and Objective Setting

  • Understanding organizational vision, mission, and strategic objectives
  • Developing strategy maps for each BSC perspective
  • Linking strategic objectives to operational goals
  • Identifying cause-and-effect relationships between objectives
  • Aligning departmental goals with organizational strategy
  • Prioritizing strategic initiatives for maximum impact
  • Workshop: Create a strategy map for a sample business case

Day 3: Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Measurement Systems

  • Understanding Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Designing SMART KPIs linked to strategy
  • Selecting metrics for financial, customer, internal process, and learning perspectives
  • Setting targets, benchmarks, and performance thresholds
  • Monitoring and reporting performance using dashboards
  • Balancing leading and lagging indicators
  • Practical Exercise: Develop KPIs and metrics for a sample strategic objective

Day 4: Implementing Balanced Scorecard and Performance Management

  • Cascading BSC to departments and teams
  • Aligning performance management and incentive systems with strategy
  • Monitoring performance gaps and corrective actions
  • Using BSC dashboards and reporting tools effectively
  • Linking BSC to project management and operational plans
  • Continuous improvement and performance review cycles
  • Workshop: Simulate BSC implementation with performance tracking and reporting

Day 5: Using BSC for Strategic Decision-Making and Excellence

  • Leveraging BSC for strategic decision-making and resource allocation
  • Driving organizational excellence through performance insights
  • Best practices in communicating BSC results to stakeholders
  • Integrating BSC with other management frameworks (ISO, Six Sigma, Lean)
  • Review of case studies and lessons learned from BSC implementation
  • Action planning for BSC adoption in participant organizations
  • Course review and final project presentation
  • Final Workshop: Present a Balanced Scorecard-based strategic plan for a real or hypothetical organization
