Course Description

This 3-day training program provides participants with practical skills in using Autodesk Navisworks Architecture 2018 for BIM coordination, model review, clash detection, and project visualization. The course focuses on integrating architectural models from various formats, performing coordination workflows, running clash tests, generating reports, and creating walkthrough animations to support design review and construction planning.

Course Objectives

 Upon the successful completion of this course, each participant will be able to:

  • Navigate and manage architectural BIM models in Navisworks 2018.
  • Import, append, and combine multiple project models and file formats.
  • Perform model review, measurement, and annotation for coordination.
  • Conduct clash detection and generate clash reports.
  • Create walkthroughs, animations, and project visual presentations.

Welcome & Introduction

Pre-Test

Day 1 – Navisworks Interface, Model Import & Review Tools (6 Hours)

  • Introduction to Navisworks Architecture 2018
  • Navisworks interface, navigation, and viewpoints
  • Opening and appending architectural models (Revit, DWG, IFC, etc.)
  • Managing selection trees and object properties
  • Review tools: measure, sectioning, visibility controls
  • Saving viewpoints and using redlines/markup tools
  • Hands-on Exercise: Importing models and preparing a review workspace

Day 2 – Coordination, Sets, Search & Clash Detection Fundamentals (6 Hours)

  • Organizing models using sets and selection groups
  • Search sets and find items tool
  • Managing model hierarchy and coordination workflows
  • Clash detection fundamentals and clash test setup
  • Hard clash vs clearance clash
  • Running clash tests and interpreting results
  • Grouping and assigning clash status
  • Hands-on Exercise: Creating clash tests and producing coordination outputs

Day 3 – Reporting, Timeliner Overview & Presentation Outputs (6 Hours)

  • Clash reporting: exporting results and generating reports
  • Coordination issue tracking and workflow documentation
  • Viewpoint publishing and sharing models (NWD/NWF formats)
  • Creating animations and walkthroughs
  • Rendering and visualization settings
  • Introduction to Timeliner (4D simulation overview for architecture projects)
  • Final case study: full architectural model review + clash report submission

Assessment Methodology

All courses conducted by EdTech will begin with a Pre-evaluation and end with a Post-evaluation.
