Course Description

The Certified Sustainability Officer (CSO) program is designed to equip professionals with the knowledge, skills, and tools to lead and implement sustainability initiatives within organizations. The training focuses on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices, corporate sustainability strategy, sustainable operations, and compliance with international sustainability standards. Participants will learn how to measure and improve organizational sustainability performance, manage risks, and drive ESG initiatives aligned with global best practices.

Day 1: Sustainability Fundamentals & ESG Overview

  • Introduction to sustainability, CSR, and ESG concepts
  • Global sustainability frameworks and standards (GRI, UN SDGs, ISO 26000)
  • Triple bottom line: economic, environmental, social impacts
  • Sustainability in business strategy and organizational governance

Day 2: Environmental Sustainability & Compliance

  • Environmental management systems (ISO 14001, EMS)
  • Resource efficiency, waste management, and pollution prevention
  • Carbon footprint calculation and energy management
  • Regulatory compliance and environmental risk assessment
  • Environmental sustainability KPIs and reporting

Day 3: Social Responsibility & Governance

  • Social sustainability: labor standards, community engagement, diversity & inclusion
  • Corporate governance, ethical leadership, and transparency
  • ESG reporting frameworks (GRI, SASB, TCFD)
  • Measuring and improving social impact and employee engagement
  • Integrating governance into sustainability strategy

Day 4: Sustainable Operations & Performance Measurement

  • Sustainable supply chain management
  • Life cycle assessment (LCA) and sustainable product design
  • Sustainability performance monitoring and reporting tools
  • KPI dashboards and ESG analytics
  • Continuous improvement in sustainability programs

Day 5: Integration, Strategy & Certification Readiness

  • Integrating sustainability into organizational strategy and decision-making
  • Sustainability program auditing and benchmarking
  • Case studies of corporate sustainability leadership

Assessment Methodology

All courses conducted by EdTech will begin with a Pre-evaluation and end with a Post-evaluation. The instructor will evaluate the knowledge and skills of the participants according to the feedback given by participants.
