Course Description

The Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) Training Program is designed to provide participants with the knowledge and practical skills required to conduct environmental and social impact assessments in compliance with national regulations, international standards, and sustainability best practices. The course covers the assessment process, stakeholder engagement, risk identification, mitigation measures, and reporting, enabling participants to support sustainable development, regulatory compliance, and responsible project planning.

Day 1: Introduction to ESIA & Regulatory Frameworks

  • Components of environmental baseline studies (air, water, soil, biodiversity)

  • Identifying environmental impacts (direct, indirect, cumulative)
  • Tools and methods for impact prediction (matrices, checklists, modeling)
  • Case studies and practical exercises
Day 3: Social Baseline Studies & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Social and cultural baseline studies (demographics, livelihoods, land use)
  • Social impact identification and assessment
  • Stakeholder mapping and engagement strategies
  • Conducting consultations and managing expectations
  • Tools for social risk assessment
Day 4: Mitigation, Monitoring & Reporting

  • Developing mitigation and management measures
  • Environmental and social management plans (ESMP)
  • Monitoring programs and performance indicators
  • Adaptive management and feedback loops
  • Reporting guidelines and best practices
  • Case study exercises: developing mitigation plans
Day 5: ESIA Integration & Practical Applications

  • Integrating ESIA into project design and decision-making

Assessment Methodology

All courses conducted by EdTech will begin with a Pre-evaluation and end with a Post-evaluation. The instructor will evaluate the knowledge and skills of the participants according to the feedback given by participants.
