Course Description

This 3-day course provides non-electrical engineers and technical professionals with essential electrical engineering knowledge to understand electrical systems, communicate effectively with electrical engineers, and make informed decisions involving electrical components. Participants will learn electrical fundamentals, power systems basics, electrical safety, and practical electrical concepts applicable across engineering disciplines.

Pre-Test

Day 1 – Electrical Fundamentals

  • Basic electrical concepts: voltage, current, resistance, and power
  • AC and DC systems: principles and applications
  • Electrical circuits: series, parallel, and combination circuits
  • Single-phase and three-phase systems
  • Electrical measurements and instruments
  • Reading electrical symbols and simple schematics
  • Hands-on: Basic electrical calculations and diagram reading exercises

Day 2 – Power Systems & Equipment

  • Power generation, transmission, and distribution overview
  • Transformers: principles and applications
  • Motors: types, selection, and operation
  • Switchgear and protection devices
  • Cables, wiring, and electrical installations
  • Power quality and harmonics basics
  • Hands-on: Equipment identification and specification interpretation exercises

Day 3 – Electrical Safety & Practical Applications

  • Electrical hazards and safety principles
  • Electrical codes, standards, and compliance
  • Earthing, bonding, and protection systems
  • Working safely around electrical equipment
  • Coordination with electrical contractors and specialists

Assessment Methodology

All courses conducted by EdTech will begin with a Pre-evaluation and end with a Post-evaluation.
