Course Description

This 2-day course provides participants with essential knowledge and skills for conducting electrical measurements safely in industrial and utility environments. Participants will learn electrical safety principles, proper use of measurement instruments, hazard identification, and safe work practices when performing electrical testing and measurements. The course emphasizes practical safety procedures and regulatory compliance.

Welcome & Introduction

Pre-Test

Day 1 – Electrical Hazards & Safety Fundamentals

  • Electrical hazards: shock, arc flash, and arc blast
  • Understanding electrical measurement environments and risks
  • Electrical safety standards and regulations
  • Measurement category ratings (CAT I, II, III, IV)
  • Personal protective equipment for electrical measurements
  • Safe approach distances and electrical clearances
  • Hands-on: Hazard identification and PPE selection exercises

Day 2 – Safe Measurement Practices & Procedures

  • Safe use of multimeters, clamp meters, and test instruments
  • Inspection and maintenance of measurement equipment
  • Lock-out/tag-out procedures for measurement activities
  • Safe measurement procedures for live circuits
  • Arc flash risk assessment and protection
  • Emergency response to electrical incidents

Assessment Methodology

All courses conducted by EdTech will begin with a Pre-evaluation and end with a Post-evaluation.
