Course Description

The ISO 22301:2019 Lead Implementer Training provides participants with the knowledge and practical skills needed to plan, implement, manage, and continuously improve a Business Continuity Management System (BCMS) based on the ISO 22301:2019 standard. This course focuses on establishing business continuity frameworks that protect organizations against disruptions such as cyberattacks, natural disasters, operational failures, and supply chain interruptions. Participants will learn how to conduct Business Impact Analysis (BIA), risk assessments, develop continuity strategies, create recovery plans, and ensure compliance with ISO 22301 requirements.

Course Objectives

  • Defining:

  • Resource dependency mapping (people, technology, suppliers, facilities)
Day 3: Business Continuity Strategies and Plan Development

  • Developing business continuity strategies based on BIA results
  • Selecting continuity and recovery options
  • Technology recovery strategies (data backup, DR sites, cloud recovery)
  • Supply chain continuity planning
  • Workforce continuity and remote operations planning
  • Developing business continuity plans (BCP)
  • Incident response and crisis management planning
  • Emergency response procedures and escalation protocols
  • Crisis communication planning (internal and external stakeholders)

Day 4: BCMS Implementation, Exercise Testing & Operational Control

  • Implementing operational controls for BCMS

Day 5: Internal Audit, Management Review & Certification Readiness

  • ISO 22301 monitoring, measurement, and evaluation requirements
  • Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for BCMS
  • Internal audit planning and execution (ISO 19011 overview)
  • Preparing internal audit checklist for ISO 22301 clauses
  • Conducting management review for BCMS effectiveness
  • Continual improvement process
  • Common audit findings and how to close gaps
  • Certification audit stages (Stage 1 and Stage 2 readiness)
  • Final revision and exam preparation (Lead Implementer exam format guidance)
