Course Description

This 3-day training and certification course provides foundational rigging and slinging competencies for safe lifting operations. Participants will learn rigging equipment identification, inspection procedures, basic rigging techniques, load calculations, and safety practices. The course includes theoretical instruction, practical exercises, and competency assessment for Level 1 rigging certification.

Pre-Test

Day 1 – Rigging Equipment & Inspection

  • Rigging safety regulations and standards
  • Types of rigging equipment and their uses
  • Slings: wire rope, synthetic, and chain
  • Shackles, hooks, and rigging hardware
  • Equipment capacity and markings
  • Pre-use inspection procedures and defect recognition

  Day 2 – Load Calculations & Basic Techniques

  • Load weight estimation and center of gravity
  • Working Load Limit (WLL) and safety factors
  • Sling angle effects on capacity
  • Basic hitches: vertical, choker, and basket
  • Hand signals and communication

Day 3 – Practical Application

  • Rigging planning and risk assessment
  • Environmental and site considerations
  • Tag lines and load control
  • Emergency procedures
  • Practical rigging exercises

Assessment Methodology

All courses conducted by EdTech will begin with a Pre-evaluation and end with a Post-evaluation. The instructor will evaluate the knowledge and skills of the participants according to the feedback given by participants.
