Course Description

Organizations recognize the value and the need for establishing, implementing and maintaining an effective Occupational Health & Safety Management System (OHSMS) to manage and control its Hazards and risks associated with their day-to-day operations and add value to their business to comply with their internal and external interested parties needs and expectations including legal and other OH&S obligations to operate and deliver their products and services in a safe working environment and maintain business continuity.

OHSMS ISO 45001 Lead Auditor training enables you to develop the necessary skills, knowledge and expertise to perform an Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS) audit by applying widely recognized audit principles, procedures and techniques.

During this training course, participant will acquire the knowledge, skills and expertise to plan and conduct internal and external audits in compliance with ISO 19011 audit guidelines and in accordance to ISO/IEC 17021 certification process of management systems certification bodies.

Based on practical exercises, you will be able to master audit techniques and become competent to manage an audit program, audit team, communication with the auditee functions/organizations.

On day 5; there will be a written exam (or shared on screen) to the participants covering Occupational Health and Safety Management System Lead Auditor training course reference to ISO 45001:2018 & ISO 19011:2018 Guidelines. The exam is not intended for qualification rather than for knowledge check after course completion.

Course Objectives

Upon the successful completion of this course, each participant will be able to:

  • ​Understand the concepts and the requirements of the Occupational Health & Safety Management System of ISO 45001:2018, principal processes and interactions and the incorporation in the organization operational activities based on the high-level structure, risks and opportunities, hazard identification and risk assessment, identify and comply with legal & other requirements, setting objectives by applying the PDCA cycle concept.
  • Understand an auditor’s/lead auditor role in planning, leading and following-up on a management system audit in accordance with ISO 19011:2018 guidelines.
  • Full understanding and the interpretations of the clause requirements of the ISO 45001:2018 standard in the context of an OHSMS audit.
  • Acquire the competencies to plan an audit, lead an audit, draft reports, and follow up on an audit in compliance with ISO 19011:2018 guidelines.
  • Strengthen personal skills necessary for an auditor to act with due professional care during a 1st, 2nd, 3rd party audit.
